About Me

Howdy,

I’m Jacob Dinkelaker, the writer of this blog, which was created as part of my Senior Independent Study at The College of Wooster, Ohio. Currently, I am a senior at the college and I am expected to graduate in May of 2011 with a B. A. in History and Archaeology. The independent study project at Wooster has allowed me the chance to explore several of my many areas of interest: history relating to the College, archaeology (specifically historic preservation), public history, and digital media.

Some of my other interests are the American Civil War (which the sesquicentennial remembrance is just starting) Atlantic slavery, and generally anything relating to 19th century United States history. I am a huge National Park Service fan and junkie, having previously worked as a seasonal Park Ranger and Museum Aid at Gettysburg National Military Park. I love doing public history (especially exploring new digital media). I want to work for the National Park Service as a career, and maybe eventually get a Ph. D. in history.
